Top Programmers Highlight Expanded TV2020

CichaHassonMarcusSullivanFox Television Stations’ Frank Cicha, Sinclair’s Arthur Hasson, Debmar-Mercury’s Mort Marcus, Tegna’s Bob Sullivan and Warner Bros. Ken Werner will look beyond the networks for promising new programming opportunities at TVNewsCheck’s second annual TV2020 conference in October.

Five top TV programming executives will explore programming opportunities in daytime, late night, early fringe and prime access at TVNewsCheck’s second annual TV 2020 conference in New York.

The panel includes Frank Cicha, SVP of programming for Fox Television Stations; Arthur Hasson, COO of programming for the Sinclair Broadcast Group; Mort Marcus, co-president of Debmar-Mercury; and Bob Sullivan, SVP of programming at Tegna.

Ken Werner, president of Warner Bros. Domestic Television, will lead the conversation.

“The affiliates can do little to capitalize more on time set aside for network programming, but they have plenty of other hours that they may be able to better monetize,” said TVNewsCheck Editor Harry Jessell.

“Traditionally, they have turned to Hollywood syndicators to fill non-network hours,” he continued. “But several station groups have begun producing their own shows and some stations continue to experiment with local shows.

“The panel will sort through the options and, we hope, find the best way forward for stations.”

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Set for Wednesday, Oct. 18, TV 2020: Monetizing the Future will be held in conjunction with NAB Show New York at the Javits Center.

TV2020, launched last year to explore the potential for monetizing ATSC 3.0, has expanded its focus in 2017 to also include sessions on OTT, revitalizing spot TV and opportunities in targeted advertising and data broadcasting. Speakers will also address the evolving network affiliate partnership and opportunities in digital and mobile.

NAB Show New York is produced by the National Association of Broadcasters and is co-located with the annual AES Convention. It is also part of The Media Collective, a weeklong collaboration of media and entertainment events providing greater exposure to the global thought-leaders, innovative solutions and new platforms ready to reshape and expand the television industry.
