Travis Sherwin Named WPBF News Director

The assistant news director at Hearst’s Palm Beach ABC affiliate moves into the top news position.

Hearst Television’s ABC affiliate WPBF West Palm Beach, Fla. (DMA 38), on Friday promoted Travis Sherwin to news director. Sherwin has been WPBF’s assistant news director for the past three years.

His TV news career includes almost 19 years with Hearst Television. Sherwin recently helped lead the WPBF news team through continuous coverage of both the Fort Lauderdale Airport shooting and Pulse Nightclub shooting, both of which captured the attention of the entire country.

Sherwin joined Hearst in 1998 as special projects producer at WESH Orlando, Fla., eventually moving to managing editor, before becoming assistant news director at WPBF. He previously worked at stations in Orlando, Fla.; Fort Myers, Fla.; and Casper, Wyo.

Travis’s work has been recognized with Suncoast Emmy Awards, a duPont-Columbia Award and a Peabody Award.

I’ve known Travis Sherman for 20 years. He’s a class guy and a great news man. I’d want him in my fox hole.
