Tribune CFO Steven Berns Resigns

Chandler Bigelow, current chief strategies and operations officer, is appointed interim chief financial officer while a search for a successor is conducted.

Tribune Media Co. today announced that its chief financial officer, Steven Berns, has resigned effective Aug. 11 to accept the position of CFO at another public company.

Tribune Media has appointed Chandler Bigelow, its current chief strategies and operations officer as interim CFO, effective Aug. 12. The company has initiated an external search for a full time successor as CFO.

Bigelow previously served as CFO from 2008 to 2013, and is a 17-year veteran of the company. He will continue to serve in his current role.

Berns will remain available to Tribune Media to facilitate a smooth transition of duties, and the company said his resignation “does not reflect any dispute or disagreement” with Tribune.

“We thank Steven for his contributions to the company over the past two years, including his management of the spin-off of Tribune Publishing and our listing on the New York Stock Exchange, and we wish him well in his new position,” said Peter Liguori, Tribune Media’s president-CEO. “We are fortunate to have an executive of Chandler’s caliber, with his many years of experience at Tribune Media, as interim CFO.”
