Tribune Names Geiger GM Of Hartford Duo

Chris Geiger joins the Tribune-owned Fox-CW stations in Hartford, Conn., from Sinclair's Syracuse, N.Y., properties.

Tribune Co. on Wednesday announced the appointment of Chris Geiger as VP-GM of its WTIC (Fox) and WCCT (CW) in Hartford, Conn. (DMA 30). He succeeds Richard Graziano, who left to become GM of Tribune’s WPIX New York.

Geiger will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the stations, including strategic planning and day-to-day operations. He will join Tribune on April 28 and report to Lynda King, COO, Tribune Broadcasting.

Geiger comes to Tribune from Sinclair Broadcast Group (formerly Barrington Broadcasting Group) where he was president-CEO of the company’s Syracuse media properties including WSTM, WTVH, WSTQ, CNY Central Digital, a 24-hour news broadcast, and CNYcentral.com.

Geiger, who spent 16 years with Sinclair/Barrington serving in positions of increasing responsibility, created and developed the CNY Central brand as the largest stand-alone broadcast media operation in New York State, outside of New York City.

Geiger holds a Bachelors of Arts in economics from the University of Virginia, which he attended on a golf scholarship.
