Turner Alumni To Gather In Atlanta This Fall

A group of Turner Broadcasting System alums is planning a reunion of all current and former employees and friends of the company to honor founder Ted Turner and benefit his foundation. "What an amazing night of re-acquaintances, stories and fun November 12 promises to be,” says one-time PR chief Arthur Sando.

All former and current employees and friends of Turner Broadcasting System are being invited to share in a Turner Alumni Group Celebration on Nov. 12, 2011, in Atlanta

The evening will honor TBS Founder and Chairman R.E. “Ted” Turner, and commemorate his transformation of the television industry in 1976 by originating the “superstation” concept and transmitting the signal of his independent TV station, WTCG, nationwide via satellite.

“It’s a huge celebration, it’s a reunion, it’s a networking opportunity and it’s just a great way to say, ‘Thanks, Ted’, from the many thousands whose careers and lives have been forever positively affected by Ted’s ambition and courage,” said lead organizer Jeff Grimshaw (Class of 1990 – VP, on-air promotion) in a press release.

Long-time TBS personality Bill Tush will serve as Emcee for the evening.

Other event organizers are Rafael Ortiz-Guzman (Class of 2000, senior director, photography), Barbara Pyle (Class of 2000, VP, environmental programming) and Arthur Sando (Class of 1990 – VP, marketing and communications).

A portion of the Turner Alumni Group Celebration’s proceeds will be donated to The Captain Planet Foundation.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

“We want to include everyone who has contributed to the amazing success of Turner Broadcasting over the past 35 years,” said Ortiz-Guzman.  “Former employees, current employees, contractors and anyone having been affiliated with the company are cordially invited.”

“When you take a look across the Turner properties over the years…CNN, Headline News, SuperStation TBS, TNT, The Goodwill Games, Cartoon Network, TMC, the Braves, the Hawks and on and on and on…what an amazing record of accomplishment it is, and what an amazing night of re-acquaintances, stories and fun November 12 promises to be,” said Sando.
