Fran Drescher ‘Divorced’ from TV Land

TV Land has cancelled Fran Drescher’s sitcom, “Happily Divorced,” after two seasons.

Drescher starred in the show as a woman who re-enters the dating scene after learning that her husband is gay. It premiered after “Hot in Cleveland,” TV Land’s successful sitcom starring Betty White and Valerie Bertinelli.

Drescher executive-produced the sitcom — which was semi-autobiographical — with her ex-husband, Peter Marc Jacobson.

The series, which premiered in Jun 2011, got off to a pretty good start, averaging 2.4 million viewers.

It was renewed for a 10-episode second season, which premiered in March 2012.

But the numbers began to fall, and when the show ended last February its audience had sunk to around 1 million viewers.

The series co-starred Rita Moreno, John Michael Higgins, Tichina Arnold, Valente Rodriguez and Robert Walden.

Dresher, 55, shot to fame as Fran Fine on the CBS sitcom “The Nanny,” which ran for six years beginning in 1993.

She and Jacobson were divorced in 1999.
