TVNewsCheck, SVG Set NewsTECHForum

The Dec. 16-17 conference in New York will address the crossroads between fast-changing technology and newsgathering and dissemination.

The NewsTECHForum, a new conference examining the convergence of technology and news storytelling, will gather news, operations and technology executives at the New York Hilton on Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 16-17.

Presented by TVNewsCheck and the Sports Video Group (SVG), the NewsTECHForum will offer an environment where news management, production and technology professionals will discuss issues such as the latest developments in ENG acquisition and transmission; how cloud-based workflows are changing the way news is produced and distributed; and how best to prepare for disaster coverage.

“Newsgathering and production are undergoing tremendous change,” said Harry A. Jessell, editor and co-founder of TVNewsCheck. “NewsTECHForum will bring together news and technology managers to talk about the state of their art and to offer manufacturers ideas about how next-generation technology can meet their needs.”

Ken Kerschbaumer, SVG’s executive director of editorial, added that NewsTECHForum’s location in New York City “will offer an opportunity for news and technology executives at networks, TV station groups and the video units of major newspapers to talk with their peers about challenges they are facing.”

Sessions at NewsTECHForum will include: The Changing World of ENG, News in a Social Media Age, News Production in the Cloud, Prepping For Crisis Coverage and Newsroom Environment 2014: Managing Assets, Managing People.
