Univision Tops Demo Rating With Obama

The Hispanic network's Meet the Candidate Event with President Obama) on Thursday averaged 2.7 million total viewers 2+, 1.3 million adults 18-49 and 1.4 million adults 25-54.

Univision’s broadcast of El Gran Encuentro con Presidente Obama (Meet the Candidate Event with President Obama) on Thursday, Sept. 20, at 10 p.m. reached 4.3 million viewers that watched all or part of the one-hour special broadcast.

Hosted by Jorge Ramos and Maria Elena Salinas, the conversation with President Barack Obama averaged 2.7 million total viewers 2+, 1.3 million adults 18-49 and 1.4 million adults 25-54.

In the time period, El Gran Encuentro con Presidente Obama made Univision the No. 1 broadcast network among adults 18-34, according to Univision.

On Univision stations, El Gran Encuentro con Presidente Obama ranked No. 1 among adults 18-49 in Los Angeles, Houston and Phoenix; and No. 2 among adults 18-49 in San Francisco. Among adults 18-34, Univision’s forum ranked No. 1 in Los Angeles, Houston, Phoenix, and Sacramento.

Univision’s Meet the Candidate forums focus on education and the future of the Hispanic community.  These events marked the first time during the general election that the presidential candidates addressed Hispanic Americans. Both forums took place in front of a live audience at the University of Miami’s BankUnited Center Fieldhouse. They were also live-streamed on Univision.com. The Univision Noticias Facebook Page also live-streamed the event in English, as did UnivisionNoticias.com in both languages, with Facebook’s politics hub also highlighting the event. The event will also be broadcasted on local Univision America radio stations and on UnivisionAmerica.com.
