WB Television Restructures Research Group

Bryon Schafer is named SVP, media research and insights in a move to capitalize on the emerging multiplatform television marketplace.

In an effort to address the evolving television marketplace and challenges in measurement and predictive consumer behaviors, Warner Bros. Media Research & Insights is restructuring.

The Warner Bros. Media Research & Insights team will be segmented into five teams under the leadership of Liz Huszarik, EVP, Warner Bros. Media Research & Insights, with teams focused on consumer insights, sales strategy, digital, ad sales and corporate strategy.

In addition, veteran research executive Bryon Schafer, who spent the past five years leading research and sales strategy at Hulu, where he pioneered new measurement methodologies supporting monetization of the service, has been named SVP, media research and insights and will serve as second-in-command to Huszarik.

“There is no question that it is a great time to be a content producer and distributor,” said Hunegs.  “What we are experiencing with the distribution and measurement landscape is a proliferation of opportunity across a multitude of established, emerging and new platforms. As business models evolve, windows shift and strategies change, it is imperative that our studio be on the cutting-edge of research, armed with insights into shifting demographics and evolving behaviors of the audience consuming our programming.”

Prior to joining Hulu, Schafer also held posts at Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and ABC Television Network. Schafer began his career in the media department of Ogilvy & Mather in New York.
