WBDT Dayton Casting For Local Reality Show

CW affiliate WBDT Dayton, Ohio (DMA 64), will be launching a new locally produced reality show called The Valley this fall and will be holding a casting call on Saturday, April 26, from noon to 2 p.m. at Sinclair Community College. The Valley will follow five local high school graduates from across the Miami Valley over the summer as they prepare for the next big step in their lives.

“We’re excited to bring a unique, locally produced reality show to the television viewers of the Dayton area,” said Joe Abouzeid, president-GM of WDTN. “From parents to teenagers, we believe The Valley will be a show for all ages.”

Cast members must be 18 years of age at audition time.  For official rules, an application and steps to audition, hopefuls should visit www.daytonscw.com and click on The Valley link.

“Graduating high school is one of the most exciting, stressful and important rites of passage for young adults, and Dayton’s CW will be there every step of the way on their journey,” said Steve Bailey, the station’s creative services director.  “We encourage all eligible high school graduates to audition for this opportunity of a lifetime.”

Production of The Valley will take place from May until August. The Valley is tentatively scheduled to premiere on WBDT in late August or early September with an air time to be determined.

That’s smart. With the cost of production almost eliminated, and the need for local stations to be have unique and exclusive programming, this is the direction more and more stations (especially second-tier affiliates) need to go. Best of luck to them!
