WBNS Expands High School Sports Coverage

Dispatch Broadcast Group’s CBS affiliate WBNS Columbus, Ohio (DMA 32), announced expanded high school sports coverage every Friday during the school year with the debut on Aug. 30 of First and 10 Friday.

“High school sports are a huge part of our community,” said Director of News Elbert Tucker. “We are pleased to expand our coverage and create a stronger community connection each week by capturing more of the local flavor and including the people and spirit that make each school unique.”

First and 10 Friday will feature the following:

  • High School Bands and Cheer Squads — WBNS morning news will welcome cheer squads and small sections from high school marching bands.
  • Team of the Week — Viewers will have an opportunity to vote online for a “Team of the Week.” They will be provided with highlights of three teams from that week’s action in order to make their choice.
  • Tailgate — The WBNS Sports team will host a live tailgate at different high schools each week during the course of the season. Booster’s will sell their food truck items on site, with the net proceeds going to the school.
  • First and 10 — The station’s long-running high school football segment, hosted by Dom Tiberi and Beau Bishop, will wrap things up with highlights from 10 games, scores from dozens of others and a marching band in the studio.
