WBRE Names James Depury News Director

The former WGAL Harrisburg producer will head Nexstar’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton NBC affiliate’s news operations.

Nexstar Broadcasting Group’s WBRE Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Pa. (DMA 54), today named James E. DePury news director of the NBC affiliate and its Northeastern Pennsylvania digital news platforms, PAhomepage.com and PAhomepage.mobi. Through an outsourcing agreement, Nexstar also provides services to the market’s WYOU, which is licensed to Mission Broadcasting. His appointment is effective March 30 and he will report to Robert G. Bee, WBRE VP-GM.

DePury replaces Jeremy Settle who left the station at the beginning of this year to join Fox News Channel.

DePury is a 30-year veteran of broadcast news with the last 24 years of his career devoted to news programming and station management in Pennsylvania. He most recently was the producer of the 11 p.m. news at WGAL Harrisburg/Lancaster/Lebanon/York and prior to that as news director for WPMT in the same market.

Prior to his tenure in Harrisburg, DePury was the news director at WJKS Jacksonville, Fla., and at WCBD Charleston, S.C.  DePury also held various news and news management positions with major network affiliates in St. Louis, Tampa, Fla., and Miami.
