WBTV Anchor Maureen O’Boyle Renews Contract

Maureen O’Boyle has agreed to a new multiyear contract extension with Raycom-owned CBS affiliate WBTV Charlotte, N.C (DMA 22).  O’Boyle co-anchors WBTV News weekdays at 5 and 6 p.m., plus the 7 p.m. WBTV News Primetime.

“We are delighted to have Maureen locked in with WBTV for the future,” said Scott Dempsey, VP-GM of WBTV. “She’s a key contributor to the station’s success, and her commitment to the community is equally impressive to her performance on-air.”

Recently, O’Boyle went public with a very private part of her life – a sexual assault she survived as a young reporter in Macon, Ga. Tens of thousands of people signed her online petition to deny parole to her attacker and her story earned national headlines.

“This topic needed to come out of the shadows,” she said. “To shatter the shame that so many victims feel, I am very grateful to work for a company like WBTV that believed my message was important and let me share my journey with others.”
