The former head of KIRO Seattle will take over NBC’s Philadelphia outlet on March 21, succeeding Dennis Bianchi. The 30-year veteran has worked his way up through the news ranks into management.

WCAU Philly Names Eric Lerner President-GM
NBC-owned WCAU Philadelphia (DMA 4) today announced that Eric Lerner has been named president and general manager.
Lerner, who will start at the station on March 21, comes to his new role after serving as VP-GM of KIRO Seattle for the last six years. He succeeds Dennis Bianchi, who left in January to be VP-GM of cross-town rival WTXF, Philadelphia’s Fox O&O.
Lerner has worked in the broadcast industry for nearly 30 years. During his tenure, KIRO strengthened its newscasts, moving from third place in most dayparts to first or a strong second among adults 25-54. In 2008, the station received an Edward R. Murrow Award for Overall Excellence.
Prior to working at KIRO, Lerner was president-GM of KFSN Fresno, Calif., from 2001 to 2006. Previously, he was news director at WLS Chicago from 1998 to 2001, KING Seattle from 1995 to 1998 and KWCH Wichita, Kan., from 1992 to 1995.
Earlier in his career, Lerner held news management and production positions at stations in Rochester, N.Y.; Buffalo, N.Y.; Greensboro, N.C.; and Des Moines, Iowa. He started his career as an assistant news consultant at Frank N. Magid Associates.
Lerner graduated from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn., with a B.A. in broadcast communications and sociology.
