WCCB Charlotte To Become CW Affiliate

Bahakel’s former Fox affiliate in North Carolina will start airing the CW lineup on July 1.

Bahakel Communications-owned WCCB Charlotte, N.C. (DMA 25) will become The CW Television Network’s affiliate in Charlotte, NC, effective July 1. WCCB was a Fox affiliate until earlier this year when Fox purchased WJZY in the market, the fomer CW affil.

“We are delighted that we have this opportunity to join such an up and coming network with even more contemporary and creative program series to come,” said Poston. “We have been very impressed with the creativity and production quality of the original programming that The CW has provided and plans for the new fall season.”

WCCB also retains the rights to televise the four pre-season games of the Carolina Panthers. The station is also the Charlotte MeTv Network affiliate, broadcasting its programming on a subchannel.

Once upon a time, WCCB was Charlotte’s ABC affiliate. But ABC opted for channel 9, and the network displaced from channel 9 (NBC) went to then-independent WRET (channel 36) over WCCB. So history repeats…
