WCIU Chicago Hires Two New Reporters

Weigel Broadcasting’s independent WCIU Chicago (DMA 3) has added two new reporters to its morning show You & Me, hosted by Melissa Forman and Jeanne Sparrow. Ashley Barnes and Rodney Spencer will join staff reporters Chris DeRose and Jon Hansen.

They will be contributing a variety of live shots and packages to You & Me which airs weekday mornings from 6 to 8.

Barnes grew up in Chicago’s South Shore neighborhood and attended Saint Ignatius College Prep and Loyola University. She previously interned with You & Me and has been associated with WVON-AM Chicago. She also worked in social media for the Rainbow PUSH Coalition and the Salvation Army. She most recently worked in television in Green Bay, Wis.

Spencer went to California State University-Northridge and previously worked for television shows including Extra and multiple national networks as well as television stations in Louisville, Ky., and Miami. He was also on the nationally syndicated show The List.
