WCTE Orders New Comark Transmitter
PBS member station WCTE Nashville (DMA 29) has ordered a Comark Parallax transmitter from Hitachi Kokusai Electric Comark.
The new DTV transmitter, which will be delivered in early September, will be equipped with eight broadband power amplifiers providing 13 kW transmitter power output (TPO) level. It will be delivered complete with dual Exact-V2 exciters (in main/standby configuration) and the liquid cooling system. Comark will also manage the shipment and offloading/placement of the new equipment in the transmitter facility.
“Comark worked with the management of WCTE to provide a complete solution to replace their existing unit with the latest technology,” says Dick Fiore, President and CEO of Hitachi Kokusai Electric Comark. “The transmitter will be delivered with ATSC 1.0 compatible exciters, but the unit is easily upgradeable for ATSC 3.0 as soon as the station is ready for testing.”
“It means everything to our station that Comark has a solution for our broadcast needs that will serve our viewers today, but also prepares us for tomorrow with the transition to ATSC 3.0,” says Becky Magura, president-CEO of WCTE Upper Cumberland PBS. “I am super excited about the Parallax transmitter and grateful for the care and concern they give to our small, rural station.”
Comark debuted the Parallax UHF high efficiency transmitter at NAB 2016.
