WCVB Ups Reid Lamberty To Weekend P.M. Anchor

Hearst-owned ABC affiliate  WCVB Boston (DMA 8) has promoted reporter Reid Lamberty to weekend evening anchor, beginning Jan. 10.

Lamberty will co-anchor Saturday evening newscasts with Pam Cross (6-6:30 and 11) and Sunday evenings with Heather Unruh (5-6, 6-6:30 and 11). Sports reporter Bob Halloran, who also served as co-anchor with Cross on Saturday evenings, will now turn his full attention to sports after anchoring both news and sports for many years.

“This is a very exciting and dynamic time at WCVB having just expanded our weekend evening newscasts and looking forward to the Jan. 11 launch of the weekday 4:30 and 7 p.m. newscasts,”said Andrew Vrees, WCVB news director. “We have an exceptional team, both in front of and behind the cameras, and are very fortunate to be able to make strategic staffing changes, such as promoting Reid to weekend evening anchor, that will further bolster our newscasts and help maintain our leadership position in this competitive market.”

Lamberty joined WCVB in October 2014 as a reporter from sister station WMUR Manchester, N.H., where he was a reporter.  Before that, he worked for two years at WHDH Boston as a reporter and weekday evening co-anchor.

Earlier in his career, Lamberty worked as an anchor/reporter at WSVN Miami, WNYW and WCBS in New York, WFXT Boston and WKEF Dayton, Ohio. He began his career in journalism at WZBN Trenton, N.J.

Lamberty graduated from Bowling Green University with a degree in journalism.
