WDRB, Time Warner Cable Set Retrans Deal

Block Communications and Time Warner Cable come to an agreement that returns the Louisville, Ky., Fox affiliate and MNT affil WMYO to TWC’s Insight Cable, after being off the cable system since May 31.

Bill Lamb, president-GM of Block Communications’ Fox affiliate WDRB Louisville, Ky. (DMA 48), announced Wednesday evening that the station reached an agreement on retransmission fees with Time Warner, owner of Insight Cable, and its signal is again being carried by the cable system, effective immediately. The deal also covers co-owned WMYO (MNT), as well as the subchannels 41.1 (Antenna TV) and 58.2 (My Family TV).

The stations had been absent from the Insight lineup since midnight, May 31.

“I couldn’t be happier to have this process completed,” said Lamb. “I know the last several days have been trying for our viewers who are Insight subscribers, and we’ve shared their pain. It’s good to know that – despite our differences – both sides were ultimately able to finally reach a fair resolution.

“We owe special thanks to Mayor Greg Fischer, Lieutenant Governor Jerry Abramson and Metro Councilman Jim King for their behind-the-scenes efforts to keep the lines of communication open. All three men clearly understand the special roles both WDRB and Insight play in this community and worked hard to bring us together for the sake of their constituents.”
