WDSU Launches Hurricane Central App

Hearst’s NBC affiliate WDSU New Orleans (DMA 52) has introduced its latest mobile app, Hurricane Central. Available for free download on both the Android and iPhone platforms, the Hurricane Central app serves as a mobile source of vital news and information for hurricane season.

Created in partnership with CLIO Mobile, WDSU’s Hurricane Central app offers users, among many features, the ability to track and monitor storms in the tropics, manage contraflow evacuation routes, as well as up-to-the-minute twitter feeds from WDSU meteorologists and key government agencies.

“We are proud to expand our suite of mobile apps to include a free application that allows our viewers and users to be well prepared for a hurricane and to manage an evacuation intelligently.” says Joel Vilmenay, WDSU’s president and general manager.

Fresh off the success of its app for Carnival season, Parade Tracker , WDSU’s latest venture into the world of mobile apps provides users with the benefits of a threat meter, disaster supply check list, information to prepare pets and more.

WDSU’s Hurricane Central app can be downloaded for free from the iTunes App store and the Android Market.
