WeatherNation Adds WBIN As Boston Affiliate

The independent in Derry, N.H., will carry the local, regional and national weather diginet on its ch. 50.3.

WeatherNation TV Inc. will launch its local, regional and national weather diginet on independent WBIN Derry, N.H.’s digital ch. 50.3 and on Comcast cable ch. 289 serving the Boston DMA (No. 7).

“At WBIN we always strive to bring viewers the best content possible,” said Gerry McGavick, the station’s general manager. “We are excited to bring WeatherNation to the Boston market and to give viewers access to the best in both regional and national weather news through our digital channel.”

The WeatherNation service delivers video and updated news coverage of current weather events. An all-meteorologist staff uses the latest technologies of VIPIR Systems from Baron Services and HD Fusion from Weather Central for forecasting and illustrating current conditions with 3D graphical mapping to help viewers understand the in-depth story behind the weather. A severe weather tracking system also gives WeatherNation meteorologists the ability to zoom down to town, neighborhood or even street level.

WeatherNation TV is also available as a free weather app for iPhone users from the Apple App Store and uniquely works in concert with WeatherNation’s 24/7 TV channel.

This is really picking up steam. I knew it when I saw it on several Roku apps. Also, the “other” weather guys (owned by the No Brain Channel) seems to concentrate on news, not weather. Personally, I don’t like Al Roker checking headlines on an “all weather” channel. I see “weather channel” and “Weather Company” not as a news, game shows, reality shows, sitcoms, and talk show channel. Way to go No Brains Channel! Let a competitor take your dollars! I hope they win at this game too.
