‘Wendy Williams’ Posts Gains In W25-54 Demo

Six-month ratings rise continues as the Debmar-Mercury talk show ranks fourth overall in metered markets in first 10 days of May sweeps.

Producer-distributor Debmar-Mercury said today that its Wendy Williams Show, now in its fourth season, is the only one of 12 nationally syndicated entertainment/information talk shows to post both year-to-year and sweep-to-sweep local metered market ratings gains in the key daytime demo of women 25-54.

During the first 10 days of the May sweeps, Wendy climbed 22% in rating and 26% in share (1.0/6 to 1.1/8) in the all-important demo versus May 2012. It has also improved from the significant increase it posted during the February sweeps, rising another 4% in share to a fourth-place 1.1 rating/8 share sweep-to-date.

In March, the Lionsgate-owned company announced it had ordered more original episodes for the summer. The decision followed Wendy’s gains during the February sweeps.

Williams’ sixth book, Ask Wendy (William Morrow), went on sale May 7 and is based on the show’s popular, recurring advice segment. She also recently formed Wendy Williams Productions, which will produce reality, game and talk shows.
