‘WESH 2 News At 10’ On WKCF Expands To Hour

Hearst’s Orlando, Fla. (DMA 19) duopoly of  WESH (NBC) and WKCF (CW) today announced the expansion of WESH 2 News on CW18 at 10:00 p.m. to an hour beginning Jan. 4, 2016. The newscast will be anchored by Stewart Moore, Angela Taylor and meteorologist Tony Mainolfi.

“We’re always looking for new ways to meet the needs of Central Florida news viewers with our unique ‘Live. Local. Late Breaking.’ brand of news and weather coverage,” said Jim Carter, president-GM of the stations. “We believe this additional 30 minutes of news per day delivered by Stewart Moore and Angela Taylor will be a great addition to the more than 50 hours of local news programming we produce each week. As Central Florida continues to grow and expand, so does our commitment to providing viewers important local news and information options on all platforms.”

Moore joins Taylor and Mainolfi on the newscast from his current position anchoring WESH 2 News Sunrise on CW18 at 7-9 a.m.

With Moore’s move to evenings, the station also today announced a new morning team on WESH 2 News on CW18 at  7-9 a.m.: Brett Connolly and Jazmin Walker. They will also contribute to WESH 2 News Sunrise from 4:30 to 7 a.m.

Also beginning Jan. 4, Meredith McDonough and Summer Knowles will anchor WESH 2 News First at 4.

Noting really new here in the Orlando Market. The only reason that WKCF 18 (17) is doing this is because WRDQ 27 (27) recently expanded their 10 PM newscast, produced by sister station WFTV 9 (39), to an hour.
