WFLD Names Jill Manuel Assistant News Director

Fox-owned WFLD Chicago (DMA 3) has hired Jill Manuel to be assistant news director, effective April 15.

Most recently, Manuel was news director of WEWS Cleveland where, under her leadership, the station won a George Foster Peabody award for investigative journalism in 2011.

Earlier in her career, she worked in Chicago in various positions, including news director for CLTV. Prior to that, she was the deputy director of communications for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.

Earlier, she was an executive producer for WBBM Chicago, senior producer at Fox News in Washington and New York and a producer for Reuters Television and CNN in Washington.

Manuel holds a Bachelor of Arts from Lawrence University and a Master of Science in public communications from the Newhouse School of Public Communications.
