WFTS Names Matt Brown News Director

E.W. Scripps-owned ABC affiliate WFTS Tampa, Fla. (DMA 13) has named Matt Brown news director. He joins the station from KSHB, the Scripps ABC affiliate in Kansas City.

Brown succeeds Bill McFarland who left the station in October.

Brown brings nearly 20 years of newsroom experience to WFTS. He has held key leadership positions in news operations around the country, including stations in Texas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Kansas.

“Matt has recently been the interim News Director here at ABC Action News. He has already made a great impact on the recent success of the station,” said WFTS VP-GM Nick Nicholson. “I am confident his leadership abilities will help ABC Action News continue to be the best choice for local news in the bay area.”
