News is the easiest thing to sell…regardless of the ratings. Adding another hour of news is inexpensive given the size of the news operation they have. The station gets 100% of the inventory and with 2014 being another political year (and with politicians/issues buying anything that even resembles news) they’ll have another revenue opportunity. This is all about the billing, not the ratings.

We have 2 stations here in Orlando doing a 4 PM newscast; these 2 stations and 2 other stations (4 stations total) do newscasts at 5 PM and 6 PM as well.
