WGHP Greensboro Adding 4 P.M. Newscast

Tribune Broadcasting-owned Fox affiliate WGHP Greensboro, N.C. (DMA 46), today announced that on April 21 it will launch the Fox8 4:00 pm News.

Following the success of its recently expanded noon and 6 p.m. newscasts, WGHP adds another hour of locally produced news coverage, upping the total to 10.5 hours of content every weekday.

“The 4 p.m. newscast will be very different from the 5 and 6 p.m. hours,” says Karen Koutsky, the station’s news director. “Viewers are looking for more consumer news, entertainment and fun at that hour.  Of course, we’ll still cover weather, breaking news and headlines, but we’ll also have something a little different to offer,” Koutsky says.

The additional hour brings WGHP’s Monday-Friday total to 52.5 hours.

Judge Judy, which currently airs weekdays at 4 p.m., will move to 3 p.m. Divorce Court and Judge Alex, which currently air at 3 and 3:30 p.m., will move to 2 and 2:30.

So Tribune adds a 4pm Newscast which equals more expense and more local programming. Once again, those calling for cutbacks as Tribune took over are left with egg on their…..well posts – once again.
