WGN Chicago Launches Apple Traffic App

Tribune-owned CW affiliate WGN Chicago (DMA 3) today launched its first traffic app, WGN Traffic. It is available for free download through the Apple Store here.

Chicago-area commuters can use WGN Traffic to stay informed during rush hour with live Twitter updates from WGN Traffic Reporters Erin McElroy and Sarah Jindra; find the best route home using WGN’s interactive map; and get up-to-the-minute travel times.

Additionally, the app will be populated by weather information from Tom Skilling and the WGN Weather Center and public transit information from CTA, Metra and Pace. Also, WGN Traffic will also offer updates from the Illinois Department of Transportation.

An Android version of the WGN Traffic app is in development.
