WGN Chicago Launches Smart TV Apps, Site

Tribune’s WGN Chicago (DMA 3) today announced a move “to explore new technologies in order to connect with viewers when it fits into their schedule.”

The introduction of several new tools, including a Smart TV site, Live Streaming and Single Subject apps, let viewers go to googletv.wgntv.com to watch the latest news and weather streaming 24/7 on their televisions, phones or just about any device. The SmartTV site is also available as an app in the Google Play store for Android devices.

WGN will also be launching several new apps for iPhone and the Android devices. Available at the app store, the WGN-TV Live app lets users bring up the latest live newscast or streaming headlines 24/7.  If there is breaking news, it’ll be streaming live on the app.
