WGN Launching 10 P.M. News On Oct. 5

WGN News at Ten will follow the Tribune station’s 9 p.m. newscast and feature anchors Mark Suppelsa and Micah Materre, Chief Meteorologist Tom Skilling and Dan Roan with sports.

Tribune-owned CW affiliate WGN Chicago (DMA 3) will introduce a 10 p.m. weekday newscast beginning Oct. 5.

WGN says the half-hour broadcast, anchored by Mark Suppelsa and Micah Materre, will be fast-paced. Chief Meteorologist Tom Skilling will be first at 10 with a complete forecast.

In addition, WGN News at Ten will feature enterprise stories offering consumer alerts, problem-solving tips and investigative reports. In addition, Dan Roan will present the latest sports scores.

“Thirty-five years after launching the WGN News at Nine, news consumption has changed dramatically. We know the appetite for news continues to grow,” said Greg Easterly, WGN president-GM. “This new, expanded half-hour will bring viewers all the news and weather you need to know before the night ends. It’s just too important of a time period for us not to be there.”
