WGNO News Adds Bill Wood, Ups Vanessa Bolano

Tribune-owned ABC affiliate WGNO New Oleans (DMA 51) has named Bill Wood reporter on WGNO’s News with a Twist. WGNO has also promoted Vanessa Bolano to weekend news anchor.

“Wild” Bill Wood, an 11-time Emmy-winning features reporter, joins WGNO as a reporter for its “eccentric” News with a Twist at 5 and 6 p.m. He joins the station from WFTX Fort Myers, Fla.

Wood graduated with a master’s degree from Northwestern University and holds a Phi Beta Kappa key from the University of South Carolina.

Vanessa Bolano, who joined the WGNO News Team in 2009 as a reporter, will now anchor WGNO’s 5 and 10 p.m. weekend newscasts. She will also report for WGNO News at 10pm during the week. Prior to her post at WGNO, Bolano was a reporter and anchor at KTEN Sherman, Texas. Bolano, who is fluent in Spanish and English, received a bachelor’s degree from Boston College and a master’s degree from the University of Miami.

Ah yes, Bill Wood aka “Audi Fox” on the Mr. Knozit show on WIS TV in Columbia SC some years ago. What a delightufl and complete broadcaster..wit and wisdom under one reddish-colored roof! Have followed his career from his days in the “lair” to New Mexico to Florida and proudly to NEW ORLEANS where he personifies “The Big Easy”. Enjoy his antics and particular twisted look at life from his WGNO perch! Proud of you Audi…uh, Bill…un Mr. Wood!
