WJCL-WTGS Savannah Partner With Paper

The New Vision-controlled duopoly  will move into the Savannah Morning News facility as part of a joint content and marketing agreement.

The ABC-Fox duopoly is Savannah, Ga., and the local newspaper, The Savannah Morning News, are co-locating and combining operations, it was announced today by New Vision, the managing half of the duopoly.

New Vision owns ABC affiliate WJCL and manages Fox affiliate WTGS under a joint sales agreement.

Under a letter of agreement, the stations would move into the newspaper offices on Chatham Parkway is Savannah.

“We look forward to this exciting and opportunistic initiative that will build on the strengths of two established brands,” said Lynn Fairbanks, GM of the duopoly.

Michael Traynor, publisher of the Morning News, said he expects the venture will improve service to the public and to advertisers. “Having Savannah’s ABC and Fox affiliates join us…will present many exciting possibilities for both organizations as we continue to expand content across many platforms.”

The partnership also extends to the Web. The stations website, TheCoastalSource.com, and SavannahNews.com will share content and work together to increase user-generated content.
