WJLA Names Doug Culver VP Of News

Allbritton-owned ABC affiliate WJLA Washington (DMA 8) announced Tuesday that Doug Culver will become the station’s VP of news. Culver is WJLA DC from WFTS Tampa, Fla., where he was the news director. He will start on July 9.

In 2008, Culver worked at WJLA as a freelance executive producer before his news director appointment in Tampa. Prior to his time at WJLA, he was assistant news director and managing editor at KIRO Seattle and executive producer at KNBC Los Angeles.

“Doug has a great track record of success as a newsroom leader and as a journalist,” said WJLA General Manager Bill Lord. “He will be a welcome addition to our strong management team.”
