WLS Election News: On Air, Online, Mobile

For its Election Day coverage, the ABC Chicago O&O will offer local election updates all evening long, on-air and online as well as delivering results via Web-enabled cell phones and wireless handheld devices.

WLS, ABC’s Chicago O&O (DMA 3), will provide the latest election results on multiple platforms during its Vote 2010 coverage of the general election on Tuesday, Nov. 2.

WLS’s coverage will feature live, local election updates all evening long, on air and online. Expanded nonstop coverage begins at 10 p.m. with WLS anchors Kathy Brock, Ron Magers, Cheryl Burton and political reporter Charles Thomas, along with the station’s news team.

Laura S. Washington, who will appear weekly on ABC 7 Morning News as a political analyst, will also join the election night news team, adding analysis. Washington has more than two decades of experience as a multimedia journalist. Her column has appeared in the Chicago Sun-Times since 2001.

For viewers on the go, WLS will continue to offer up-to-the-minute election results via Web-enabled cell phones and wireless handheld devices at abc7togo.com. Results will also be available on the station’s iPhone, Android and Blackberry apps.

In addition to its election coverage, WLS is featuring an on-line resource for voters at ABC 7Chicago.com. This candidates’ forum gives voters instant access to the candidates and their positions on the important issues. Video statements from candidates running in the Illinois Governor, U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, Illinois state offices and Cook County races are featured.
