WMAQ News Adds 2½ Hours On Weekends

The NBC station in Chicago will start its Saturday newscasts at 5 a.m. and is adding another half-hour on Sundays at 10 a.m.

NBC-owned WMAQ Chicago (DMA 3) will be adding two-and-a-half hours of weekend morning news beginning July 27. The weekend morning newscasts on Saturday and Sunday will now begin at 5 a.m., and on Sunday, a half-hour will be added at 10 a.m.

With these additions, WMAQ will have six-and-a-half hours of local weekend morning news.

The weekend morning newscasts are anchored by Kim Vatis and Anthony Ponce with meteorologist Cheryl Scott.

The weekend morning news schedule:

Saturday
5-7 a.m.
9-10 a.m.

Sunday
5-7 a.m.
8-9 a.m.
10-10:30 a.m
