WNJU, Hispanic Federation Address DACA Questions

In service to the Tri-State’s Spanish-speaking communities, Telemundo’s WNJU New York (DMA 1) has partnered with the Hispanic Federation to answer viewer questions regarding the federal phase out of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. 

Starting Thursday, Sept. 14, and continuing to Friday, Sept. 15, viewers can call 1-866-432-9832 between 5 and 7 p.m. to obtain free information and resources regarding their rights, regardless of immigration status. Hispanic Federation representatives can answer questions regarding DACA and offer referrals to organizations that can assist with the completion of DACA renewal applications for callers who meet the limited qualifications released by the Trump Administration on Sept. 5.

Referrals will also be offered for comprehensive immigration legal screening for viewers interested in their eligibility for immigration benefits. All calls are confidential.

“There are many questions regarding the proposed changes to DACA and we want to connect our viewers with the experts, who can provide the answers most important to their families and friends.  We are grateful for the Hispanic Federation’s support of this important community initiative,” said Cristina Schwarz, WNJU president-GM.

WNJU will also partner with the Hispanic Federation and the Northern Manhattan Coalition for Immigrant Rights on Sept. 23 for a special information session that will answer viewers’ questions about federal immigration policies. Held at the Washington Heights Academy between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., viewers can receive comprehensive immigration legal screenings and obtain referrals for additional services.
