WNJU New York Launches Investigative Unit

Telemundo’s East Coast flagship station, WNJU New York, today launched Telemundo 47 Investiga, the station’s new investigative unit.  Led by WNJU’s new investigative reporter Pablo Gutierrez, Telemundo 47 Investiga will complement the station’s consumer investigative unit, Telemundo 47 Responde by delivering in-depth reports.

“We are adding additional resources and taking Telemundo 47’s commitment to investigative journalism to a whole new level. Our new investigative unit will uncover and report on the questionable practices that may threaten to impact the communities we serve,” said WNJU’s Karen Mendez, VP of news. “Tough, fair and always professional, Pablo will bring his passion and sharp eye to Telemundo 47 Investiga on behalf of the communities we report for and have been proudly serving for more than 50 years.”

Investigative reporter Gutierrez joined WNJU in 2012 as general assignment reporter.  He has 15 years of experience as a producer, executive producer, news anchor and editor at several television stations throughout the United States. In this new role, he will be responsible for leading the station’s investigative unit and will also collaborate with sister-station WNBC and its I-Team on joint investigative projects.

Telemundo 47 Investiga complements the station’s consumer investigative unit, Telemundo 47 Responde, which helps consumers who may have been wronged, regardless of language spoken. Telemundo 47 Responde has recovered nearly $1.5 million for consumers. Consumer reporter Liz Gonzalez leads the Telemundo 47 Responde team.
