Wohler Buys RadiantGrid Technologies

Wohler Technologies on Monday announced its acquisition of RadiantGrid Technologies, the developer of transcoding, transformation and new media automation service platforms.

The purchase will allow Wohler to offer streamlined IT-centric workflows with a range of video, audio, data monitoring and captioning solutions drawn from the combined strength of the two companies’ product lines.

Wohler CEO Carl Dempsey lauded “the exceptional technology and talent” of RadiantGrid and pointed to their landmark transcoding work for 180 PBS stations, AMC, Turner and the enormous and complex video collection of the Library of Congress.

“Our customers are increasingly moving to more IT-centric infrastructures and looking to file-based solutions to increase efficiency and profitability,” Dempsey said, adding that the acquisition “accelerates that program and positions us to move quickly into exciting new areas and to roll out innovative new solutions.”

Although the deal was completed just this past weekend, Wohler Chief Marketing Officer Don Bird revealed that the two companies have already been collaborating on combining features from their respective product lines to create a newly-enhanced line of future devices and applications.

While declining to release details, executives hinted that at least two new Wohler-RadiantGrid products based upon RadiantGrid technology will roll out within the next few weeks.
