WPIX Makes Two News Executive Appointments

Tribune Broadcasting’s WPIX New York (CW) has elevated Amy Waldman to managing editor and Christian Taussig to news operations manager.  These promotions are effective June 17.

Waldman, in her new position as managing editor, will report directly to Mark Effron, WPIX VP-news director. She will oversee the station’s news coverage, assignment desk and all specialty units. Waldman, who was previously the station’s executive producer, special projects, joined WPIX in 2007 as a senior producer. Less than a year later, she was promoted to executive producer where she led the morning team until March of 2010, when she became executive producer, special projects.

Prior to WPIX, Waldman worked at Court TV, CNBC and Fox News Channel. She began her television career at WGRZ Buffalo, N.Y., and WICU Erie, Pa.

Waldman holds a Bachelor of Science in broadcast journalism from Syracuse University.

As news operations manager, Taussig will oversee all engineering and operations functions for WPIX News, reporting to Effron. Taussig  joined WPIX in 2000 and has held several engineering positions at the station, serving most recently as the engineer in charge of PIX11 News at 5 and PIX11 News at 10.

Taussig is the third generation in his family to work in the television industry. He began his career at CBS Sports and has worked at ESPN, Fox Sports, MSG, TNT, ABC, AMC, NBC Sports and NFL Films.
