WPIX Names Avila A.M. News Supervising Producer

Tribune Broadcasting’s CW affiliate WPIX New York (DMA 1) flagship station, today named Mike Avila supervising producer for PIX11 Morning News.

In this newly created position, Avila will have a role in the oversight responsibilities of the station’s 5-9 a.m. newscast.

He will join WPIX on June 23 and will report to Zev Shalev, executive producer of PIX11 Morning News.

Avila comes to WPIX from WLNY New York where he was the planning producer for Live from the Couch. Avila is also the co-creator and executive producer of Lyons & Bailes Reel Talk for NBC Universal, a movie-based program that started as a local WNBC New York production, before becoming a nationally syndicated show, airing in more than 90% of the country.

He has also held producer positions at ABC News Now, WNBC’s Weekend Today in NY, and WCBS New York’s CBS 2 Morning News.” 

Avila has been a regular contributor to SYFY.com, MSNBC.com and Buzz60.com.
