WPIX New York Names Weekend Anchor Team

Tribune Broadcasting’s CW affiliate WPIX New York (DMA 1) today announced Kala Rama and Craig Treadway will anchor the station’s weekend newscasts at 5 and 10 p.m. beginning Saturday, Jan. 9. During the week, Rama and Treadway will also report for the PIX11 News at 6:30 p.m.

Rama will join WPIX as a weekend anchor and reporter beginning Jan. 4. She joins the station from WABC New York where she reported on weekday mornings.

Prior to joining WABC, Rama worked as an anchor and reporter at WKMG Orlando, Fla.; at WSOC Charlotte, N.C.; and at WWLP Springfield, Mass.

She got her start in television news as an assignment editor at WTNH New Haven, Conn.

Rama is a graduate of Fairfield University where she earned a degree in political science and communications.

Treadway has been at PIX11 Morning News since it launched in 2000. While at the station, Treadway has served as a reporter and anchor.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Prior to entering broadcast journalism, Treadway was a member of the University City, Miss., Police Department. He entered journalism as an anchor/reporter at WRYT-AM Glen Carbon, Ill.

He also held positions as program host and news director at KATZ-AM and news anchor at WIL-AM in St. Louis, before switching to television at KMOV St. Louis where he was the morning anchor and reporter. From there it was on to KMSP Minneapolis as a reporter and New England Cable News in Boston as weekend anchor, eventually coming to New York and working at WNYW as an anchor and reporter.

Treadway attended the University of Missouri at St. Louis and also studied, while serving as a police officer, at the Broadcast Center of St. Louis.
