WPRI Names Ups Shannon Hegy To Anchor Desk

Co-owned CBS affiliate WPRI and Fox affiliate WNAC Providence, R.I. (DMA 53), has named Shannon Hegy co-anchor of WPRI’s Eyewitness News at 5, 6 and 11 p.m. with Mike Montecalvo, chief meteorologist Tony Petrarca and sports anchor Yianni Kourakis. Her promotion is effective immediately.

Hegy will also be co-anchoring Eyewitness News at 6:30 and 10 p.m. on WNAC.

Hegy has been with Eyewitness News since October 2013. Previously, she anchored the news at WGGB Springfield, Mass., where she worked her way up from reporter and assignment editor.

She earned a B.A. in broadcast journalism from Hofstra University on Long Island, New York.
