Helping Our Neighbors: Surviving Sandy will be raising money for the American Red Cross on the air from 4 to 6:30 p.m. today.

Today, ABC-owned WPVI Philadelphia (DMA 4) is joining with the American Red Cross to host a live disaster relief fundraiser.

Helping Our Neighbors: Surviving Sandy will take place on the station’s afternoon Action News broadcast. Phone lines will be open from 4 to 6:30 p.m. and volunteers at the WPVI studios will answer calls. Every dollar will be dedicated to Sandy relief efforts.

In addition to American Red Cross volunteers, special guests will be stopping by to lend their support to the telethon. The long list of guests includes Mayor Michael Nutter, Pat Croce, Vince Papale, Top Chef Kevin Sbraga, celebrity chef Michael Schulson, radio personality Nicole Michalik, Temple Basketball Coach Fran Dunphy, Flyers Head Coach Peter Laviolette, several of the Sixers star players, WMMR-FM’s Pierre Robert, Olympic Gold Medalist Carli Lloyd and many more familiar faces.

WPVI President-GM Bernie Prazenica said: “6ABC has worked around the clock to keep our viewers prepared and informed before, during and after the storm. Now, we want to go beyond our news coverage by helping to provide much-needed financial aid to those in need right here in our community, and we encourage our viewers to join us.”
