WRAL’s Gravley Named N.C. Sportscaster Of Year

Jeff Gravley, sports anchor of WRAL Raleigh-Durham, N.C. (DMA 25), has been named North Carolina Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.

2014 was a great year of sports coverage for Gravley. He lead two weeks of field-anchoring for the Men’s and Women’s U.S. Open Golf Tournaments and hosted a new, live 30-minute show on Sundays with former East Carolina coach Steve Logan.

“This is a terrific honor for Jeff,” said WRAL News Director Rick Gall. “We’re really proud of him, especially knowing how hard he works to break sports news and tell compelling stories. 2014 will certainly be a year to remember for Jeff. His non-stop work during back-to-back U.S. Opens and his hosting the new Logan Zone show were remarkable.”

Honorees are invited to the NSSA’s annual awards banquet on June 8 in Salisbury, N.C.

“This is a tremendous honor to be recognized by my peers,” said Gravley. “WRAL has provided a great platform to cover one of the most unique sports markets in the country. Thanks to those who have helped me along the way and the many people who have shared their stories with me.”

This is the second time Gravley has been awarded this honor by The National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association. He first won the award in 1998.
