WSB Atlanta Launches iPhone Traffic App

The Cox ABC affiliate partners with Beat the Traffic to provide real-time traffic updates.

Cox Media Group’s ABC affiliate WSB Atlanta (DMA 9) and Beat the Traffic, a provider of real-time traffic information, have teamed up to launch the new wsbtv.com Traffic App, available for free in the iTunes App Store.

“The new app is loaded with useful tools for Atlanta drivers.” said Tim McVay, WSB vice president and general manager. “It gives you instant access to location-based, interactive traffic maps, current travel times, and traffic jam warnings to avoid delays.”

“Beat the Traffic provides the data powering Channel 2’s Triple Team Traffic coverage,” said Marian Pittman, WSB station manager. “We use its mapping functions on-air, online and on mobile. The new app adds one-touch access to real-time traffic. Users of wsbtv.com Traffic app can report traffic information directly to each other and on the new wsbtv.com traffic webpage.”

“We are honored to deliver real-time traffic information on wsbtv.com and on Channel 2’s multiple platforms,” said Andre Gueziec, Beat the Traffic’s president-CEO. “This new app allows motorists to receive detailed traffic updates and warnings wherever and whenever they need it.”

The app can be downloaded for free by searching for “wsbtv.com Traffic” in the iTunes App store.
