WSB Wins Ad Council’s Silver Bell Award

WSB Atlanta is the recipient of the Ad Council’s Silver Bell Award, an annual honor given to a local TV station that exemplifies support and leadership in disseminating AD council public service announcements.

WSB, a Cox Media-owned ABC affiliate, aired pro bono PSAs on its airwaves for a variety of issues, including digital literacy, reading, high school dropout prevention and emergency preparedness. Notably, WSB showed particular support of Project Roadblock, the partnership between TVB, Ad Council and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration designed to prevent drunk and buzzed driving.

WSB also used its website to run digital banners and stream PSAs.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to recognize WSB as an outstanding partner that has helped us reach people throughout Atlanta and beyond with messages that are having a significant positive impact on their community,” Beth Ellard, EVP media at the Ad Council, said in a statement.

Nice award. Generous if the station to supply valuable time they couldn’t sell, anyway. They could have run programming, but chose to donate time instead.
