WSCV Forms News Alliance With AM Stations

The Miami Telemundo station will simulcast its 5-7 a.m. news and information block on Actualidad Radio AM stations in Miami and West Palm Beach.

NBC-owned Telemundo affiliate WSCV Miami (DMA 16) on Monday began a news alliance that will offer its 5 a.m. newscast Noticiero 51 Primera Edición and 6 a.m. news and information program Buenos Días Miami to listeners of Actualidad Radio (WURN-AM Miami and WLVJ-AM West Palm Beach).

“At Telemundo 51 we are always looking for opportunities to better reach our audience with the latest news and the most updated weather and traffic reports, and we understand that first thing in the morning everyone wants to know how to best prepare for the day as they are heading to work, so this morning collaboration with Actualidad Radio 1020AM and 1040AM is ideal to give our audience what they expect from us,” said Manuel Martínez, president-GM of WSCV.

Noticiero 51 Primera Edición and Buenos Días Miami air Monday through Friday from 5 to 6 a.m. and from 6 to 7 a.m., respectively, the first anchored by Carinés Moncada accompanied by meteorologist Denise Isaac with weather and traffic, followed by Daisy Ballmajó and Abel Hernández as hosts of Buenos Días Miami.

“Today at 5 a.m. we began simulcasting the two-hour block of news and information through Actualidad Radio, consolidating an information alliance that we hope will please and benefit our audience”, said Helga Silva, WSCV VP of news and content. “We are very grateful to the management of Actualidad Radio for the enthusiasm and professionalism they demonstrated in the development of this unique alliance and we hope to continue collaborating with them in other projects in the future”, added Silva.

Adib Eden, president of Actualidad Radio, said: “The prestige and experience of Telemundo 51, combined with the reach and growth of Actualidad Radio through its two signals, make of this alliance the best option for Hispanics in the region.”
