WSMV Nashville Partners With WeatherBug

Meredith’s NBC affiliate WSMV Nashville (DMA 29) is partnering with WeatherBug to provide viewers with live weather conditions from area schools, public buildings and popular recreation sites.

WSMV becomes the exclusive provider in the Nashville region of up-to-the-minute weather information and high-definition camera images from various WeatherBug weather stations, including the Adventure Science Center, a local children’s museum. In addition to local WeatherBug stations, WSMV has access to more than 8,000 weather stations nationwide.

With access to WeatherBug’s network of weather stations, Chief Meteorologist Lisa Spencer and the entire WSMV team can incorporate streaming weather information into their broadcasts. Weather information is also available on WSMV’s website, which provides 24/7 access to real-time, local weather conditions.

The WeatherBug Media Program connects broadcast stations with local schools and the community to provide students and the public with hands-on access to real-time weather information.

Through the WeatherBug Schools Program, professional weather stations are installed at local schools and district locations to collect data for incorporation into math, science and geography lessons, in addition to providing information for making transportation and safety-related decisions.
