DMA 3: CHICAGO

WSNS To Add 4 P.M. Weekday Newscast

Telemundo’s Chicago outlet will debut the new broadcast on Sept. 26 with Anabel Monge and Alfonso Gutierrez as co-anchors.

Telemundo-owned WSNS Chicago (DMA 3) will launch a new half-hour weekday newscast on Monday, Sept. 26.

Anabel Monge and Alfonso Gutierrez will co-anchor Noticiero Telemundo Chicago a las 4 PM.

This expansion follows less than two years after Telemundo Chicago ushered in a new era in Spanish-language local television in the market by adding a newscast at 4:30 PM in 2014.

“I am excited that our station will break new ground by offering Spanish-language viewers in our market the news and information they need, first, and in the language they prefer,” said Chris McDonnell, WSNS president-GM.

Monge joined Telemundo Chicago in October of 2014 and currently co-anchors WSNS’s 4:30, 5 and 10 p.m. weekday newscasts alongside news co-anchor Alfonso Gutierrez.

Gutierrez launched his local broadcast career at WSNS in 2003 as an intern. In the past 13 years, he has held various roles with increasing responsibility. He was named lead news anchor in 2012.
