WSVN Miami Expands Morning News Block

Beginning Aug. 22, Sunbeam’s Fox affiliate is adding an hour at 9 a.m. to its Today in Florida newscast.

Sunbeam Television Corp.’s Fox affiliate WSVN Miami (DMA 16) is expanding its morning newscast, Today in Florida. Beginning Aug. 22, WSVN will debut a 60-minute newscast from 9 to 10 a.m., adding an extra hour to its four-hour morning news block which currently airs weekdays from 5 to 9.

With this news expansion, WSVN will now produce more than 63 hours of live news and local programming each week, which it says is “more than any other local television station in the country.”

“WSVN has a track record of delivering the most comprehensive news first,” said Robert Leider, EVP-GM of WSVN. “The extra hour in the morning reaffirms our commitment to local news and our viewers.”

Today in Florida’s 9 o’clock hour will be anchored by Christine Cruz, Diana Diaz and Richard with weather forecasts by Meteorologist Julie Durda.
